From the Executive Director

The summer months brought several changes to the Institute. We were all very sad to hear of the death of Dr. Sydney Segal who was one of the first members of the Institute's Board of Directors. We will miss his helpfulness and his special visits to the office.

We said good-bye to Barbara Sherman who has done such an excellent job of organizing and running the Resource Centre, producing and editing the newsletter. Barbara also represented the Institute in several community activities. Barbara has moved on to other challenges in her professional life and we wish her well.

We are pleased to welcome Carolyn Wright and Katrina Pacey to the Institute staff. Both Carolyn and Katrina have worked with us over the last few years on various projects. Carolyn will focus on the newsletter and other writing and editorial activities of the Institute. Katrina will be involved with the Resource Centre and some research activities. They both will be involved in variety of community committees.

At the annual general meeting of the Institute, Simon Verdun Jones was elected as the Chair of the Board, and the name of the Institute was changed to the BC Institute Against Family Violence. Please bear with us as we make the change-over.
